Another group that does good work on the island is the Boy Scouts.
The following pictures are of Alex and Josh Cook, of Lopez Island, removing blackberries in September 2007.
Thanks to our 10 eager and hardworking volunteer participants;
Jack and Patty Ware, of Ashland, Oregon, Susan Ware and Kai, of Seattle, Kevin Loftus of San Juan Island, Sandy Evans of Marysville, David and Linda Hudson, Connie Holz, and Nancy McCoy, all of Lopez Island, and Matt from State Parks, the beaches on Patos Island are now clear of litter and the walking trail is now free of winter-downed trees and brush.
Thanks also to Dave Castor of Washington State Parks, who took all of us and all our tools over to Patos in his beach landing craft.
Susan and Kai, our Seattle volunteers, work for Microsoft and their company “paid” them to do this service project. The money they earned will be donated to KOPL. Hooray!
We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day and we all agreed that hard work for a good cause is really fun.
Thanks everyone!
